Healing isn’t a race. It’s not about getting somewhere fast or ticking off a list of achievements. It’s about diving deep—layer by layer—with gentleness and compassion as my guide. For me, healing is a process of deliberate care that honors the time it takes to grow, witness, and transform.
I’ve chosen a different path in a world that constantly pushes for speed and quick fixes. And for the first few years, it was very much against my ADHD nature to go slowly. However, I discovered the art of going slowly and the importance of being gentle with the nervous system while trying to heal and reset. True healing—whether for myself, my community, or the planet—is about slowing down and building something sustainable, something real. It’s about creating a foundation strong enough to carry us forward for today and future generations.
Healing Starts with Foundations
Healing begins at the roots. You can’t build something lasting without addressing what lies beneath. It’s about establishing a solid foundation. It’s about meeting ourselves where we are and tending to what truly matters first. That might mean focusing on basic needs like food systems, education, or clean water for some. For others, it might mean reconnecting with their emotional or spiritual well-being. Healing looks different for everyone, and that’s okay. What matters is starting small, taking manageable steps, and trusting the process. It is not a replacement for necessary and beneficial medical treatments. It is in concert with those supporting the whole self; not just body parts of you but all of you.
Compassion Guides Progress
At the heart of everything I do is compassion. I’ve infused each process with this principle because I believe real progress can’t happen without it. Each Sync With Life process is built around the Three Rights to Be: the Right to Exist, the Right to Grow, and the Right to Belong. These aren’t just ideas—they’re sacred principles I hold close to my heart. They guide how I live, how I create, and how I show up in the world. Transformation is about ensuring that others are supported and uplifted, too. That’s why I designed Sync With Life as a space where collaboration and empathy are not just encouraged—they’re essential. I created two transformational games: AB2C Game (available now) and Infinite Solutions (coming June 2025). Players learn that success doesn’t come from rushing or competing; it comes from working together, witnessing each other, and honoring the journey we’re all on.
Slowing Down for Lasting Change
I’ve learned that slowing down is not about doing less—it’s about doing what matters most. In both, life and the games, the goal is to go deep, not fast. I’ve integrated tools like SEW (Somatic-Emotional Witnessing) and DRIP (Dynamic Relational Integration Process) into the game. These practices teach us how to slow down, witness our emotions, and connect with others more deeply. They also teach us useful practices in everyday life, such as DRIP, which teaches conflict resolution that works! Focusing on the interconnectedness of people and ecosystems, I’ve also tied progress to key metrics like the Social Determinants of Health (SDH) and the Ecosystem Biodiversity Index (EVI) in Infinite Solutions game design. These measures challenge us to think holistically and address our challenges’ root causes—not just the symptoms. Healing, after all, isn’t just about individuals. It’s about communities, systems, and the planet we all share.
Hope as a Practice
One of the most important things I’ve learned is that hope is not a feeling—it’s a practice. Authentic hope doesn’t come from quick wins or instant gratification. It comes from the steady accumulation of small, meaningful victories. It comes from seeing that every step forward is part of something bigger, no matter how small. Through Sync With Life practices and my work, I aim to inspire that kind of hope. I want people to feel empowered, not overwhelmed. I want them to see that healing is possible—not through perfection but through persistence and care. We provide the spaces and processes to equip and empower you.
A Life of Gentle Leadership
If there’s one thing I’ve come to understand, it’s this: leadership doesn’t have to be loud, fast, or forceful. It can be quiet, slow, and grounded in compassion. That’s the kind of leadership I strive for—not just in the work I create but in how I live my life. As I tell my kids, I have worn combat boots in the past, and I can lace them up if I need to. But I prefer my hiking boots for the journey now. For me, healing isn’t about arriving at some final destination. It’s about being present, showing up with integrity, and creating systems that honor our shared humanity. It’s about reminding myself and others that we don’t have to do everything simultaneously. We must keep going, step by step, with gentleness and grace. By slowing down, going deep, and embracing the art of compassion, I’ve shaped a game and a movement toward a more regenerative, more compassionate world. And I’m honored to walk this path with you.
